Sporting rates for global roaming
Travellers to Wimbledon, the Ashes, US Open Championships or one of the other big coming events are being advised to research mobile phone options before they go.

vRoam’s SIM cards have a local number. This means you can call other vRoam users in your party or other local numbers at close to local rates (49c a minute in the UK). Retrieving voicemail is just a local call too. These efficiencies have attracted a number of travellers, participants and administrators going to major events such as last year’s Olympics in Greece.
“Those using normal global roaming don’t realise if they call across London from one Australian mobile number to another their call will be routed and charged via Australia,” says Nathanson. With vRoam this is only a local call.
Friends and family in Australia can still reach you on your normal Australian mobile number if you arrange vRoam’s ‘Follow Me’ service.
