vRoam Global secures further investment for national growth
Privately owned mobile communications service provider vRoam Global said it had secured investment from Swedish company LMK. vRoam said it would use the investment to broaden its customer base and become a major supplier of travel communications services for corporate and leisure travellers.
vRoam expanded its global reach to Malaysia and Greece in July, bringing the number of countries it offers roaming services in to over 25. The company has also expanded its product suite by providing broadband Internet roaming solution iPass to its mobile roaming service.
vRoam experienced an increase in revenue of 400% in the last financial year and said its aim was to double its Australian business over the next six to 12 months, mainly through the growth of its Melbourne and Brisbane customer bases, having focused on the Sydney market since its launch in 2001. The company also said it would broaden its dealer network through travel agents and corporate travel organisations.
vRoam CEO Danny Nathanson said the company had plans to expand overseas, once it had fully realised its revenue plans for the Australian market. ”If we achieve our local targets, we will look to replicate the business model overseas, and I believe our strong revenue growth and business potential are good indicators for continued success,” said Nathanson. ”With the recent launch of a global calling card and iPass, vRoam is on its way to becoming a one-stop-shop for travellers to source all their communication solutions before travelling overseas,” he added.
The company did not disclose the full amount of the LMK funding. LMK currently has major holdings in 10 Swedish technology companies, including publicly listed Teligent AB and Axis AB.
