TravelFix has slashed the cost for its tertiary education clients to take their mobiles overseas in a deal negotiated with vRoam Global. University staff and academics can now save up to 40% on normal mobile roaming rates by using the vRoam Tertiary service when they travel for business. vRoam’s ‘virtual roaming’ service uses local overseas SIM cards to avoid expensive roaming charges. It is available in more than 35 countries. Simply place the overseas SIM card into your phone once you arrive at your destination. You’ll have a local number for the foreign country to make local calls at close to local call rates.
Users can remain contactable on their usual Australian mobile phone number by activating vRoam’s ‘Follow Me’ service. “Using a mobile phone overseas can be very expensive so we are very excited to be offering our clients a service that will save them substantial amounts of money,” says Bob Dickinson, managing director of TravelFix, the preferred supplier of travel management services to a large number of Australian tertiary institutions.
“We realise remaining contactable on your mobile while you’re working overseas is critical. vRoam Tertiary will reduce these costs for university staff and we’re delighted to be working with TravelFix in what we believe is a valuable new market,” says the chief executive of vRoam Global Danny Nathanson.
The vRoam service has no impact on existing mobile services or contracts. Call fees are fixed and known in advance. Bills are fully itemised and post paid. For more information please visit www.vRoam.com or call 1300 787 626.
