When in roam

An Australian company has come up with a way for corporate travellers to save up to 40 per cent on international mobile phone roaming charges.

The savings on Telstra or Vodafone rates can be made by swapping your SIM for a vRoam Global card. VRoam taps into local overseas networks with country-specific SIM cards, which come with a local overseas number.

An existing Australian mobile phone number can be diverted to that number and the user pays close to local rates to make calls locally or back home.

Australian colleagues call on your normal mobile number, while overseas colleagues can contact you for the price of a local call.

The service is available in 25 countries in Europe, North America and Asia.
